Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE)

After you complete your TWP, you begin your Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE).*

The EPE is the 36 consecutive months immediately following your Trial Work Period (TWP). During the EPE, your benefits are paid for months your earnings or work activities are below SGA as long as you continue to have a disabling impairment. Benefits are suspended for months your earnings or work activities are over the substantial gainful activity level.

*Unless Social Security conducts a Continuing Disability Review (CDR) and find your impairment has medically improved.

As you may already know, Social Security’s benefits and rules are very complex. Call Maelyn Burns, our Ticket to Work/Benefits Specialist for more information on the Ticket to Work program or other social security work incentive questions. Her number is 982-8322.
